about his club... what does it matter? if he will play for the worst club in europe it change his potential or his way to play?
Kazan is a great team but right now they dont have strong competitors in national side for different reasons.
More on topic: Look at Belgorie. They were good last year and the year before. But this year, they aren't that good as they were(They still have Sergey Tetyukin!). Zenith Kazan might even have some bad players there or ordinary players.
Managing a club and playing to a high standard is like riding a rollercoaster: Many ups and down. I believe that some teams are more consistent in keeping their position than others however. But I keep my opinion: Club doesn't define how good a player is. The definition of a good player is how he plays on the field.
I agree with you guys, but also I don't think a good player can be defined this easily, just by saying "how he plays on the field". There are many other components that make up a world class player. Think of it a list of things: there is a list of stuff that makes a good player (for example: mental strength, physical ability, coordination, coachability, etc.) And on this list is also what I said, "what club you play for usually shows how good a player" , but you see it is not at the very top of the list, it is not the number one reason that makes up a good player, it is a little lower down the list.
Also now that i think about it I said "what club you play for..." not "how the club performs", you are saying how good a club performs, that determines if the player is good or not, that is true. But it matters what club you sign with at the beginning of the season. I understand they have ups and downs throughout the season, but in the beginning of the season the players choose their clubs because the clubs have been good in the past, have a big name, etc. Lets say hypothetically, that Zenit starts near the top and the does poorly in the season and drops down the table. Even though they are not first in league, it would still be known that they have good players. This applies to better leagues though, not V-League, Japan, etc.
Concerning the second paragraph, yeah I can agree to some extend. I still believe that sometimes other factor might come in the game... And if a club stay low for a long time, then the reputation are completely different Let's take the famous Les canadiens from the NHL. At the start, they were the best. Now, they are average. ?
Always fun to discuss with you.
