Evoking images of warm summer days at the beach, Beach Volleyball always proves to be a fan-favourite with its lively atmosphere and high-paced action. Played on a sand court and contested by two teams of two, the fundamentals of Beach Volleyball are the same as those of the indoor game: a team can score a point by grounding the ball on their opponents’ side of the net, or by an opponent committing a foul. At Baku 2015, Beach Volleyball will be played in glorious sunshine at the Beach Arena, with 64 teams competing for gold in the men’s and women’s tournaments. The competition will begin on 16 June and conclude on 21 June 2015. The opportunity to earn qualification for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games is further incentive for the teams to aim for gold.
