Brunner/Hüberli and Mol/Sørum named European Teams of the Year

2022 CEV Volleyball Gala held at Bozar Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels was an ideal opportunity to celebrate the latest achievements – and especially the #bestplayers of the sport. Top women's and men's European #beachvolleyball pairs of the 2022 season are awarded alongside the indoor volleyball stars of the last year's Champions League winners Isabelle Haak and Kamil Semeniuk.

#NinaBrunner and #TanjaHüberli made sure the prize for the “Women’s Beach Volleyball Team of the Year” would remain in Switzerland, as they followed in the footsteps of their compatriots Joana Heidrich and Anouk Vergé-Dépré – who had received the same award last year in Ljubljana. Brunner and Hüberli helped Switzerland claim top honours from the inaugural Beach Volley Nations Cup and finished second at EuroBeachVolley as well as at the first-ever Queen & King of the Court European Finals.

The award for the “Men’s Beach Volleyball Team of the Year” could only go the way of #AndersMol and #ChristianSørum – aka the Beach Volley Vikings. The still young Norwegians triumphed at the FIVB World Championships in Rome as well as at the Beach Volley Nations Cup – and after settling for third place at EuroBeachVolley, they resumed their winning streak by crowning themselves Kings of the Court in Utrecht earlier this month. It is therefore very fitting that the distinction for the “Beach Volleyball Coach of the Year” went again – for the third straight time – to their mentor (and Anders’ father) Kåre Mol.
