Resovia Rzeszów is only one step away from qualifying to the Final Four Tournament of the Champions League 2014/15. If they succeed in achieving this feat, that would mark Resovia’s first appearance in the last stage of Europe’s elite competition. The team of Resovia includes many players who are well-known to Russia’s Volleyball fans, especially their German-born opposite Jochen Schöps who spent four years in that country playing for Iskra Odintsovo (he scored 17 points). The stands of SK Sever were packed and you could easily sense the anticipation and excitement right from the beginning of the match. "We have been having highs and lows since the beginning of the season and today luck was not on our side, commented Lokomotiv’s team captain Alexander Butko. "This victory does not mean anything yet since it is only after the second match that we will be able to determine the eventual winners of this clash,” said Resovia’s mentor Andrzej Kowal to calm down the enthusiasm.

Lokomotiv Novosibirsk won two games 3:0 against Romania’s Tomis Constanta in the 1/12 Play-Offs of the Champions League. They are ready to take on their last set of matches on the road that takes to the Final Four tournament in Berlin. The Russian Express will indeed host Poland’s Resovia Rzeszów on Wednesday for the first round of the Playoffs 1/6 before the return match follows next week at Podpromie sports hall. The matches between Lokomotiv and Resovia are expected to be dramatic ones as both teams are very motivated and willing to reach the Final Four scheduled for March 28-29 in Berlin. “It’s time for the Playoffs 6 and at this stage of the competition there are no weak teams left", says Jochen Schops (player of Resovia Rzeszów). Some fans of Lokomotiv Novosibirsk have even already bought tickets to attend the Final Four tournament in Berlin, hoping that Lokomotiv can repeat their success from the 2012/13 edition whose finals were held in Omsk.

In the second match of the Playoffs 1/12 of the Champions League, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk defeated Tomis Constanta after 69 minutes in three sets. During the match Lokomotiv was better in all positions and the first two sets easily finished while in the third one, the opponents showed better game. They have dominated in block 11 vs. 3 and in attack 53% vs. 34%. Tomis travelled to Siberia with their second lines and this way they could hardly stand a chance in their match up with the Russian team. The leaders of the winning team were Denis Zemchenok 12, Stanislav Eremin 10 points and Alexander Abrosimov 10 points while on the other side Stanislav Petkov and Robert Adrian Aciobanitei scored 7 points each. Lokomotiv Novosibrisk made a perfect start in the Playoffs 1/12 of the Champions League 2014/15. They won with Tomis Constanta from Romania in three sets (25:21, 25:15, 25:20). It was a big first step for the Russian Express on the way to the Playoffs 6. Tomis was hoping for a home win, but Lokomotiv was simply too strong to overcome. Russia’s Lokomotiv Novosibirsk played successfully on the Black Sea coast, even though Romania’s champions tried to create many issues to the players mentored by Andrei Voronkov. Oreol Camejo from Lokomotiv was the best scorer with 14 points, while Venceslav Simeonov top scored for Tomis with 13 points. "Maybe it seemed like an easy victory, but we worked hard for it. We made the difference with the serving, which is an important quality of volleyball in Russia", said Lokomotiv’s player Lukas Divis.
